Today you and I are going to learn how to relax and bring God’s word into our hearts.  We are going to ask for
peace and rest in our mind and spirit.  Relaxation is therapeutic and when done with God’s word it helps us to
allow it deeply in our spirit, vanishing the busyness of our lives.

First, we are going to learn how to relax our muscles through proper breathing, then we will meditate in His word,
understanding how deep and high his love is for us. Meditation simply means focused thinking.  And soon we will
meditate on God’s Affirmation toward us, how devoted He is to the wonderful work He is accomplishing in us.

Close your eyes…
Get in a comfortable position in comfortable clothes, dim the lights and relax your body.  Stretch your legs or lie
down, make sure the temperature is pleasant and there will be no interruptions.

Psalms says: May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.   And...Peter says:
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Together we are going to learn how to breathe deeply, calming our body, allowing our body to replenish its oxygen.

Let your mind clear, and feel the calmness.  As a thought comes, don’t fight it, just let it go
Place one hand over your chest and the other on your stomach.  Our breathing should be felt through our abdomen.
Our chest should be still.  As we breathe through our diaphragm we are deeply breathing and replenishing our body
of much needed oxygen
Take a deep breath through your nose all the way down to your stomach.  Hold, and let go through your mouth…
Again, breathe in through your nose, 1, 2,… out through your mouth… 2, 3, 4.  We are purposely slowing our
breathing down.
One more time, breathe in, 1, 2,… breathe out…  2, 3, 4
Continue breathing deeply,
Relax your body, and listen to what the Lord has to say:

You gave me life and showed me your unfailing love. My life was preserved by your care.

Father, you think so highly of us, you care and love us so deeply.  Your word says that you created us to fellowship
with you. Corinthians says... God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.
Yet, we forget sometimes how your word affirms our value and your desire to guide, teach, and validate who we are
in You.
Paul says in Ephesians:
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.  God
decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he
wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.   And:
Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in
advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.  Lord, you are so good to me: You gave me
Your Spirit as Your guarantee—a guarantee that You will give me the inheritance that You promised.  You
purchased me to be you own.  You did this so I would praise and glorify You and I do freely give You my praise
and I do want to glorify You with my life.

And Jeremiah says:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you
hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me
and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

I can rest in your Word when it says:  I am loved with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.
I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt.
As I go through my life, I realize that I don’t need to do it alone, The history of your word shows me, and promises
me your unfailing love and care, it helps me to continue a path of faith knowing that you direct my steps with the
utmost desire to see me succeed.
 In Hebrews you promise:
“This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”

Every new day tells me that I am being conformed to the image of my Creator.  What a privilege that is.  Yet, as I
walk through life I need to be reminded of these truths constantly.  I need to believe with my heart as well as my
mind.  You created all of me, body, mind, and spirit.  You say that I am holy and blameless before You.  What an
honor! Yet I am a sinner and feel less than worthy of these gifts from You.  By faith I joyfully receive them Lord
and I can because Your Word declares that I am free of shame and condemnation, that I am forgiven and free from
the grip of sin, that I can do all things through You who gives me strength.
In Job You say:
There is a spirit within people, the breath of the Almighty within them, that makes them intelligent.   When I
abide in You, You tell me that I am victorious, capable, intelligent, I am your workmanship.  Romans says: If
God is for us, who can be for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?  Who will
bring any charge against those whom God has chosen?  It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ
Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or
danger or sword?   No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am
convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any
powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of
God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I am loved with an everlasting love.  I am a new creation in You, old things have passed away, I have become new.
As I think about these words, as I let them sink in my soul and renew me, I feel a renewed strength to tell everyone
I know this good news, to let the world know that we have hope and truth and love through our Maker.

When my life seems complicated I think on the truth of Your tender kindness and how You care for me...Psalms
says:The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.  And I know that
in troubled times, my life will make sense because You promise in Ephesians: He has showered his kindness
on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.  And in troubled times sometimes I do not feel like I deserve the
love of God, and for these times, You assure me in Romans: Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that
we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.  I know that
you do not despise my broken heart because Psalm tells me: He heals the broken hearted and bandages their
wounds. And when I feel small and unimportant I know that I am important to You, and that I am pleasing to you
even in those times of my life, because you say in Peter: humble yourselves under the mighty power of God,
and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.  Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.
And Psalms says: The lowly will possess the land and will live in peace and prosperity.  Lord, You are so
righteous in everything You do, You are filled with kindnesstoward me and I thank You, because I really need
Your kindness!

Let’s take a walk in God’s wonderful creation and see how great His love is for us.  As we walk, we see wonderful
trees set in a calm forest of ferns, berry bushes and a singing creek.  We hear the soothing sound of a gentle
breeze playing musically as it whispers through the pines.  In the distance we hear young birds in a nest meing
for food as their mother lands and carefully feeds them.  I am like those young birds needing to be fed, needing
to be cared for and loved.  Lord, You are the one who cares for me.
As I walk and think about your strength and might, Your power and Your greatness, and as I read in your word
about your passion and compassion, I can’t help but wonder how is it that your love for me is so great, so
complete, that
you have suffered death so I can live.  I imagine a group of noisy children going round and round innocently playing,
and how You care for them even when they are not aware of Your presence, watching their every move, listening to
their every word.  As an earthly father validates their child’s uniqueness, so also you who created us also delight in
our accomplishments.
As I picture the earth from high above looking down to us.  We are but a mere dot in the midst of this beautiful
creation: the mountains, the ocean, the rivers and the many miles of untouched beauty; in comparison to all that,
we seem so small, so insignificant.  Our concerns and our worries seem so earth bound.  Our minute to minute
decisions in life seem so vain in light of the greatness that surrounds You from Your exalted place. And yet You do
care about the small details of our lives.  You take the time to teach us, that what today seems so important and
worrisome is like a mist, and many of the fears we have will never even happen.  James says:  We do not know
what our lives will be like tomorrow.  We are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
Lord I am happy to be a mist, to be Your mist.  And while I am here for just a little while, if I could have a little faith,
the kind of faith that will let me believe from the heart that your word is true, that you are faithful and good, I believe
that my life would be  almost heavenly.  I want that kind of faith Lord, the affirming of who I am and who You are.  I
want to place myself where I belong, at your feet, and allow You to be the great I Am that you are in my life and rule
everything I do.  I don’t want to learn the feebleness of my life after a crisis; I don’t want to learn it because of grieve;
I want to allow the Holy Spirit in me to teach me.
Your word says:
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope
of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces
perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God
has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
I thank you Lord for not giving up on me, for taking me through this life to train me to be more like You.
Thank you for refining and affirming me in the process.
I am peaceful, I am content, my life is good because You Lord, are good.
